My name is JoBreil Powell. I am from Minneapolis, MN, which is also where I grew up. Throughout my years of living back home in Minneapolis I went to an Arts school by the name of Ramsey I.F.A.C (International Fine Arts Center) from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Ramsey is a performing arts school and in my nine years there I learned how to play many instruments along with being in a few plays. The instruments I played were the snare drums in band, drumline, and Jazz combo 7th and 8th grade. From 4th Grade to 7th Grade I played the Violin in Orchestra, while only learning a few basics of the piano/keyboard. In high school I went to Washburn High and played Basketball and Track & Field all four years.
My hobbies include playing basketball, watching football, and exercising consistently everyday. I am very interested in traveling, meeting people, and having a competitive nature. When it comes to Mass Media I chose it because it gives me a chance to be back with art, learn new techniques behind and infront of the camera and I love to debate sports, so this could give me the opportunity to possibly have a debate with Steven A. Smith and Max Kellerman on ESPN First Take or Shaq, Ernie Johnson, Kenny “The Jet” Smith, and the one and only Charles Barkley. I came to Washburn to not only finish school with a degree, but actually get my chance to play basketball as well. Get myself out there for the NBA draft or Professional ball someway. I went to Dakota State University my first two years, it didn’t work the way I would’ve like and Washburn welcomed me and gave me an opportunity that I’ve been waiting for. I am truly BLESSED.
I would do anything to be able to sit in on a debate with Stephen A. Smith. One of the greatest sports debaters of our generation. Always blessed to have an opportunity my man! Keep pursuing that dream.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool that you went to a performing arts school! I wish I would've went to one.
ReplyDeleteWhat instruments do you play? I play multiple instruments and I love them all. Also, plays vs. musicals?
ReplyDeleteThat would be dope to be an NBA commentator and talk hoops with Shaq and the TNT crew. I'm low-key jealous you went to a performing arts schoo
ReplyDeleteWe don't have any performing arts schools where I'm from so I think that's is neat you went to one.
